Study on the Outcomes of Recent Diabetic Pregnancies

Abstract
|
|
|
We reviewed the outcome of pregnancies in diabetic mother including Gestatinal Diabetes Mellitus(GDM) in Ilsin Christian Hospital (1997∼1998). The incidence of GDM increased to 3% since 1994 after universal screening of GDM. Perinatal mortality
decreased gradually, 0% in 1998, which was lower than general population. Macrosomia decreased from 47% to 9%, but still higher than general population. Neonatal hypoglysemia, respiratory distress syndrome decreased. But congenital anomaly was
not
changed, still 14%, which was 4X higher than general population. To prevent congenital anomaly by diabetes mellitus(DM) it is necessary to check glucose tolerance in women with high risk of DM who will be pregnant in future.
